Comcast Network May Soon Be Available In HD For Verizon FiOS TV Customers
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Verizon TV customers may soon be able to watch The Comcast Network in high-def.
When the Phillies, Flyers or Sixers play at the same time, TV viewers will often see one of the games on The Comcast Network. But FiOS customers don't get the HD version. But that could be changing. Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia spokeswoman Maureen Quilter says a deal with Verizon is in place.
"Verizon picked up The Comcast Network Philadelphia's standard definition feed in January 2010, but the high definition feed has also been available since then."
Verizon spokesman Lee Gierczynski says the network side is working on it.
"On Verizon FiOS TV, The Comcast Network HD version is going to be added at sometime in the near future, but that timetable has yet to be finalized."
This is a separate from Comcast seeking a surcharge for Comcast SportsNet. Gierczynski says the two sides are still negotiating that issue.
