LEVITTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - Dozens of displaced residents of a Levittown, Bucks County apartment complex are trying to pick up the pieces the day after a four-alarm fire tore through their building (see related story).
Among the heroes is a group of young boys who may have saved many lives.
Twelve-year-old Ilijah Rodriguez and his handful of friends were playing outside when the fire broke out in one of the buildings at the Raquet Club Apartments.
Instead of staying away, they jumped into action.
"Kept on running, knocking on every single door, all the way from 'A' building to 'B' building and that's pretty much all we did," he explained.
The day after, as many of the residents tried to figure out what was next - their home and belongings destroyed, Laurie Williamson came over and gave Ilijah a hug, thanking him and his friends for what they did.
"I just wanted to let him know how special he was and that he took care of everything," Williamson said.
Ilijah says he wasn't scared and says he and his friends had to do the right thing.
"I feel happy that people are safe. As long as they're safe, I'm good," he said.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
