Yard Sale Thief Nabbed Through Craigslist Sting
LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- One Allentown thief may want to think next time before he posts a stolen item online.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, 33-year-old Armando Aybar Jr. of Allentown was arrested after advertising a cell phone he stole from a yard sale on Craigslist.
Authorities say Douglas Scott Teti hosted a yard sale Saturday at his home in Lower Macungie.
Sometime between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., Aybar allegedly stole a pink Motorola cell phone that was for sale. Teti reported the theft and police later found that Aybar had listed the phone for sale on Craigslist, prompting authorities to go undercover.
A Pennsylvania State Police officer posed as a potential buyer and expressed interest in the phone in order to arrange a meeting. When Aybar arrived at the meeting point, the officer arrested him and recovered the stolen phone.
