WXPN Morning Host Michaela Majoun Wraps Up 25-Year Career On Air

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After more than 25 years on the air for a morning radio host in Philadelphia, it's now off the air and onto screenwriting for Michaela Majoun.
At 10am, Majoun's two and a half decades on WXPN , the University of Pennsylvania's noncommercial radio station, came to a close.
"You know what? It hasn't hit me yet, it really hasn't," she said.
With The Rolling Stones' "The Last Time" playing, faithful listeners, friends, and longtime colleagues were on hand at World Café Live, wishing her well and thanking her.
And her final show gave her a chance to connect with some of the favorite artists she got to spotlight over the years.
"I will really miss being able to champion artists like Jonatha Brooke, who was here today, and Rosanne Cash, who called in," she said afterward.
What's next? Putting all her focus on screenwriting, she says.
Before Philly radio, she lived in LA and worked on the show "Designing Women." Now, she says, it's time to write again.
"I grew up in a family where nobody listened to me," she said with a laugh, "and I'm sure that's why I went on radio. And I don't know who's going to listen to me now! But hopefully I'll get something produced and have a different kind of voice."
