Wounded Pa. State Trooper Alert, Aware And Even Making Jokes
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Pa. state trooper who was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital after being shot on I-676 Tuesday morning is said to be alert, aware and even making jokes.
The incident all started around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say Trooper Patrick Casey was acting as back-up for two other troopers who originally stopped the suspect's vehicle for expired registration.
Police say the troopers began to investigate and were able to identify four occupants in the vehicle.
That's when the driver sped off.
Trooper Casey took off in pursuit and a short time later, the shooting began.
Casey was hit in the shoulder and taken to the hospital where officials say he is expected to make a full recovery.
