World Trade Center 9/11 Beam To Reside at Gloucester County College

SEWELL, N.J. (CBS) -- A poignant artifact from the September 11th terrorist attacks will soon be on display at Gloucester County College.
It is a warped, two-foot section of I-beam, a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, that will become part of a September 11th memorial at Gloucester County College.
"People are going to be able to come here for generations and see this steel," said Port Authority of New York and New Jersey deputy executive director Bill Baroni (below right) today. "And that is so important to us because the World Trade Center was our home. The Port Authority built the twin towers. On September 11th we lost 84 Port Authority employees, including 37 Port Authority police officers."

College president Fred Keating says the 9/11 steel will serve as a lasting source of inspiration for the county police and fire academy recruits who train there.
