Work To Widen AC Expressway Ongoing

HAMMONTON, N.J. (CBS) - Work to widen the Atlantic City Expressway continues and should be finished by this time next year.
The project to add a third westbound lane on the AC Expressway between the Garden State parkway and Route 73 has been done in three sections. The third section is more than halfway finished, says Sam Donelson, executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority:
"On that third contract, it's about seven miles. It takes us from milepost 25 up to 31, which is our interchange with Route 73. And once completed, that will make the travel, especially on the westbound ride going home from the beach, much more convenient."
Donelson says the work should be finished and drivers should see the construction barriers gone by summer of 2014.
