Woodbury Sketch Club Surpasses Obstacle, Expected To Put On Great Holiday Show

By Michelle Durham

WOODBURY, N.J. (CBS) - Members of the Sketch Club Players in Woodbury are on stage performing their annual Christmas show, but it was no easy feat. The 122-year-old building on Glover Street was damaged by August's Earthquake. It wasn't covered by insurance and the all volunteer organization faced quite a dilemma.

President Frank Myers says they were in quite a spot.

"As word got round that we were having a problem, the Woodbury Old City Restoration Committee heard and at their very next meeting, they voted unanimously to approve a donation to the club of $12,000 to get the damage fixed."

At the same time, Myers was getting estimates from contractors and within two weeks repairs commenced. They are still underway now, but the building is safe and the show must go on!

"We're doing 'A Christmas Story' right now which is running for the next three weekends and we have all the authentic props from the show so, we never missed a beat thanks to the Woodbury Restoration Committee."

Myers says in this time of need it was incredible to see the outpouring of care, concern and donations.
