Woodbury Heights YouTube Star Gets Her Own Cable Network Show
By Melony Roy
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A Woodbury Heights woman has gone from YouTube star to talk show host on a cable network. The show airs tonight.
Grace Helbig is an actress, comedian, author, YouTube star and now the host of "The Grace Helbig Show" on E! but before all that she was a track star at Gateway Regional and once a semi finalist for the Miss NJ pageant.
"I remember in fifth grade I made my older brothers laugh when we were on a family car trip and that was so exciting to me because I was not expecting it at all and that feeling became infectious," she says.
Following her college graduation, she headed to New York to follow her dream of becoming an actress when she says she fell in love with the Internet. Her YouTube channel "Daily Grace" has over 2.1 million subscribers.
"I set out to create videos that I would want to watch. For me the internet was a great way to find my voice because you're just constantly creating, generating, and doing it again and again."
Helbig describes her new show on E! as a curious introvert's night-time talk show. It takes place in her house and blends her internet friends with celebrities.
