Woman's Body Found Tied To Cinder Block In Chester County Pond

EAST COVENTRY Twp., Pa. (CBS) – Police are investigating after a woman's body was discovered in a pond in Chester County.

Officials say her body was found tied to a cinder block.

Around 11:15 a.m. on Monday, May 30, a citizen reported seeing a body in a pond off of Zeiber Road in East Coventry Township.

District Attorney Tom Hogan says, "Sadly, someone threw this woman away like a piece of trash. Our first job is to identify the victim. Then we will find out how she died and who was involved."

Officials say the pond is a popular swimming and fishing hole that is part of Pigeon Creek.

Crews were eventually able to remove the woman's body and cinder block from the pond.

Authorities say the the body is an African-American female, approximately 25-35 years old. She was about 5'6" , 130 pounds and had short hair. She was dressed in long shorts and a long-sleeved shirt, and was not wearing shoes. She was wearing bracelets on both wrists and rings that were a horse and an anchor. She also had a tattoo on her left shoulder.

Officials say the woman was already dead when she was placed in the water, but she had no gunshot wounds or signs of blunt force trauma or strangulation.
