Woman Swims From Del. To NJ For Sandy Awareness

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - A New Jersey woman swam 13.1 miles from Port Mahon, Delware to Fortescue Beach, New Jersey to raise aweness and money for the communities hurt from Superstorm Sandy.
Hundreds lined Fortescue beach as 48-year-old Meghan Wren touched land after spending almost nine hours in the water.
"It started off really calm and then things kind of got real choppy and the sun went away the rain and wind came out the sun came out," Wren said. "The whole swim had different elements to it.
Wren is the executive director of Bayshore Center at Bivalve. She says she did this swim for more than just the good exercise:
"I really care for the bay and its communities. I really want to bring attention to the area. There are amazing things here, communities are struggling especially after Sandy, a lot of people are still trying to recover."
Wren set a goal of raising $25,000 for the bay's restoration, and before the final count she was over $17,000.
