Woman Shot During Attempted Robbery, Carjacking In Mayfair
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A woman was shot during an attempted robbery and carjacking in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday morning.
The incident began at about 6:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of Jackson Street in the city's Mayfair section.
According to investigators, a man armed with a gun approached a female driver on Jackson Street and attempted to rob and carjack her.
The suspect shot the woman in the hip before she was able to escape. The female driver then drove to Cottman and Frankford Avenues where she called police.
She was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
The victim told police the suspect was a black male wearing a hoodie and black pants with a white stripe on them.
The incident remains under police investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
