Police: Woman Shot 3 Times During Attempted Home Invasion In NE Philly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A woman was shot multiple times through the bedroom window of her home in Northeast Philadelphia overnight during what police call an attempted home invasion.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a home on the 8500 block of Summerdale Avenue.
The victim told investigators she had been lying in bed when she noticed her window was open. When she went to close it, she heard several gunshots and was hit in the left arm, chest, and abdomen.
"The next thing she knew she felt a burning sensation on her arm while seeing blood on her arm," said Captain George Fuchs.

Neighbors described hearing the commotion.
"It was all just a shock," said neighbor Tyler Nisenfeld, who identified the victim as his neighbor Daisy.
Alicia Roberts, who lives down the street, says she and her fiancé were smoking cigarettes outside when they heard the gunshots.
"I said, 'Is that what I think it is?' meaning gunshots. We went inside, locked all the doors, turned off all the lights," Roberts said. "Two men came from down that way. One was wearing a black hoodie. I couldn't see his face because it was covered."
Roberts is due with a baby girl in about a week. She says now, she'll be taking extra precautions.
"That they're still on the street, it does actually scare me," she said. "I have pepper spray with me at all times."
Police say because of the location of the punctured window screen, they believe the victim may have been targeted.

"It appears someone would have to actually climb onto a chair to actually fire into the bedroom area," Fuchs said.
Police say the suspects then tried unsuccessfully to get into the home, and the victim's husband arrived home from work shortly afterwards.
"She thought it was the bad guy that shot her so she was trying to push the door closed not realizing it was her husband coming home from work," Fuchs added.
The woman was taken to Jefferson Hospital in stable condition.
Investigators are following leads and trying to find surveillance video in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS.
