Woman Sexually Assaulted During Home Invasion In Bensalem, Police Say
BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) – Authorities say a woman was sexually assaulted during a home invasion in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
Bensalem Township police director Fred Harron says officers responded to the woman's call at the Lafayette Garden Apartments around 5 Saturday morning.
"She was in there along with her young daughter, and he began to sexually assault her. She was able to fight him off, at which time he fled the scene."
The victim woke up while the intruder was in her apartment, police say, and a struggle ensued.
Authorities say as the victim fought to get the suspect out of her apartment she was sexually assaulted.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Police say the suspect is described as a non-white male, 5'7" to 5'10", wearing glasses and smelling of body odor.
"Looks like he's possibly Asian, about 5' 7" to 5' 10". We just need to get him identified now so we can get him off the street before he tries to do this again," says Harron.
Investigators obtained surveillance video from the Sunoco at Frankford Avenue and Knights Road around the time of the assault. Police believe the male in the video is the suspect.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Bensalem Police at 215-633-3719.
