Woman Pleads Guilty To Drug-Smuggling Aboard Small Plane In Montgomery County, Pa.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A Colorado woman has admitted her role in a drug trafficking operation that authorities say flew large quantities of methamphetamine into Montgomery County, to be sold on the streets of the Delaware Valley.

Tamara Vincent quietly pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to deliver and one count of conspiracy.

The 41-year-old Rifle, Colo. woman admitted she flew into Wings Field in Blue Bell aboard a single-engine Piper with her former boyfriend, pilot James Handzus, this past spring, and attempted to sell a pound of crystal meth to an undercover cop (see previous story).

Defense attorney John McMahon hopes to mitigate what could be a long jail sentence for her.

"This woman has suffered some very serious, traumatically induced mental health issues," he told KYW Newsradio today.  "I'm not going to get into the details now, but very, very severe."

Prosecutors say the couple was flying in from the Midwest and the west coast.   The plane was seized.

Handzus, 51, opted to go to trial and is pleading his case before a Montgomery County judge.
