Mystery Clouds Deadly Boulevard Crash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a mysterious deadly accident on the Roosevelt Boulevard that has more questions than answers.

Authorities say the accident was discovered at about 3 p.m. Thursday in the northbound lanes near the Schuylkill Expressway where it leads onto the northbound Boulevard.

According to investigators, the mystery began to unravel at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when a teenage girl was found with cuts and bruises walking on the Expressway.

The teen initially told police that she had been abducted and they took her to the Special Victims Unit.

However, around 2 p.m. Thursday, the teen apparently changed her story and told investigators about an accident. The teen lead police to the scene where they found the car in a heavily wooded area off the roadway.

An unidentified woman, the teen's mother, was found dead inside the car that rolled down an embankment and landed in a tree.

The teen remains in the hospital for evaluation.

The mysterious details surrounding the deadly crash remain under investigation.
