GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- A Gloucester City, Camden County man is being held on $1 million bail after his arraignment Monday in connection with the stabbing death of his mother.
The incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 600 block of Jersey Avenue in Gloucester City.
Officers were called to the home for the report of a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, they encountered and ordered 21-year-old Leon A. Wilson to come out of the home. Wilson emerged from the home with a knife in his hand. When ordered to drop the knife, he tossed the knife on the ground and officers detained him.
Authorities say stains on the knife and Wilson's clothing appeared to be blood.
When police went inside the home, they found 42-year-old Scarlett Wilson, who was pregnant, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Scarlett Wilson was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, but she later died as a result of her injuries. Her child was delivered and is being treated at Cooper Hospital.
According to investigators, a witness was inside the home with Leon Wilson and his mother. The witness told police they heard Leon Wilson arguing with his mom.
The witness told police they saw Leon Wilson push his mom to the floor and heard Scarlett Wilson exclaim: "No, no, no," at which time the witness went to another room and called 911.
Investigators say the incident appears to have stemmed from an argument between the two.
Leon Wilson was arraigned Monday. He is facing charges of murder.
The deadly stabbing remains under investigation.
