Police ID Woman Struck, Killed While Walking Dog In Bear, Del.

BEAR, Del. (CBS) - Delaware State Police have identified a woman who was struck and killed while walking her dog Thursday evening.

The accident occurred at 8:16 p.m. as 44-year-old Donna J. Potter, of Bear, crossed the westbound lanes of Pulaski Highway.

She was struck by a 2010 Kia Soul, which was traveling in the right lane.

Potter was transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Her dog was also struck and was taken to a local veterinarian to receive treatment. The dog's condition remains unknown.

The driver of the vehicle, identified by police as 23-year-old Kelly Borgia, of New Castle, was not injured.

The westbound lanes of Pulaski Highway were closed for approximately two hours as Troopers investigated and cleared the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and no charged have been filed.
