Woman Dead After Being Struck By SEPTA Bus In West Philadelphia
WYNNEFIELD (CBS) -- A woman is dead after being hit by a SEPTA bus in the Wynnefield neighborhood of West Philadelphia.
The 65-year-old woman was crossing 54th Street near City Avenue when she was struck by a Route 52 SEPTA bus, according to officials. The victim went into cardiac arrest at the scene of the accident and was rushed to Lankeneau Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
According to police, it is unclear if the victim, a resident of Lower Merion Township, died because of the accident or if she had a pre-existing condition.
SEPTA officials and the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating this incident.
The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of family.
