Cops: Woman Calls In Fake 911 Call To Trick Police And Avoid Arrest In Camden County

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Police in southern New Jersey say a woman dialed 911 from a car that had been stopped by an officer in hopes that she and her companion would not be arrested.

It didn't work.

Gloucester Township authorities say Robert Webb and Janora Carter, both of Camden, were pulled over around 11:30 p.m. Monday for a traffic violation.

During the stop, local dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a man with a gun was in a nearby convenience store. Authorities say Carter made that call, hoping the officer who stopped her would be called away.

He wasn't.

Webb and Carter were both arrested for several outstanding warrants and were being held in the Camden County Jail. Carter was also charged with making a fictitious report.
