Woman And Children Injured By Hit And Run Driver Home From Hospital
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A mother's plea for the capture of a cold-hearted driver who ran down her family as they crossed the street and never stopped.
Now that the whole family is out of the hospital, the real healing is beginning at home.
After surgery and with 2 screws and a rod in her leg, 5-year-old Kaitlyn McMillan is home from the hospital, reunited with her sisters and talking about the hit and run that left her with a broken leg.
Her family calls her "Tiger" because she's so strong.
Surveillance video shows the horrific scene Tuesday on Broad and Dickinson streets.
Kaitlyn was crossing with her mom and 4-month-old sister on the way to a doctor's appointment.
"All I remember we was crossing street my daughter got hit. I woke up and I had tubes in my throat," says Stefanie McMillan.
Stefanie suffered head injuries and remains bruised.
While they were waiting for help she couldn't talk, but says Kaitlyn was able to tell the strangers who they were.
"She was in pain, but she told the strangers 'This is my mom, this my sister. As soon as paramedics come, you can take her,'" Stefanie said of what her daughter told people helping at the scene.
Police are looking for a later model red Honda Accord with a missing side mirror.
The family would like to see the driver turn themselves in and is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
