Woman Accused Of Smuggling Drugs In Her Privates

JAMAICA, NY (CBS) – A woman is accused of smuggling cocaine in her unmentionables when flying to New York from Kingston, Jamaica.

Authorities say on February 21, Shekira Thompson arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport and presented herself for inspection.

CBP officers escorted her to a private room where she allegedly admitted to vaginally inserting a "foreign body."

Officials say the white powdery substance found tested positive for cocaine.

The estimated street value was $10,000, authorities say.

"This seizure is just another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of these illicit drugs," said Robert E. Perez, Director of CBP's New York Field Operations.

CBP placed Thompson under arrest and turned her over to the Port Authority Police Department.

She faces state narcotics smuggling charges.
