Wolf Signs Executive Order On State Worker Minimum Wage Increase

HARRISBURG, Pa., (CBS) -- Governor Wolf signed executive order Monday that will raise the minimum wage for some state workers.
Governor Wolf says his executive order will raise the minimum wage to $10.15 an hour for about 450 state workers under his jurisdiction.
That increase will also apply to firms that enter into future state contracts, with an exemption for human service providers.
"We need legislation that applies to all employees, all workers in Pennsylvania."
The governor said he waited until now to sign the executive order because he hoped that across-the-board minimum wage hike would have been enacted by now.
But Jennifer Kocher, spokeswoman for the Senate Republican majority leader, says Wolf has not pushed the issue with the GOP.
"There's never been talk of it around the budget negotiating table… there's never been any type of 'let's move this forward.'"
Kocher says it's another example of Wolf's inability to work with the legislature.
