Wolf-Dog Of Pennypack Park Captured
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The wolf-dog that was seen roaming around Pennypack Park has been captured.
After using a variety of approaches, including tranquilizer equipment and cage traps, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and USDA APHIS Wildlife Services captured the wolf-hybrid Tuesday morning using a foothold trap.
The animal was lured into a trap using hot dogs. Authorities say it was captured within three hours from when the traps were set. The trap, officials say, is most often used for catching canines and is designed for the most humane capture possible.
The wolf-hybrid was transported to the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania, a 22-acre woodland wolf retreat for wolves and wolf-hybrids where it will undergo evaluation.
