Wolf Blitzer Honored At Temple University
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Temple University had its own "Situation Room," today, as the university honored veteran CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer with its Lew Klein "Excellence in Media" award.
Temple recognized the SUNY-Buffalo grad and CNN anchor, who says his job allows him to learn every day.
"I know that when I wake up in the morning, I have 'X' amount of information in my head. 'X' amount of knowledge. But when I go to sleep at night, I'll be a little bit smarter."
Seven Temple alums were also honored, including Pulitzer-prize winning Inquirer reporter Kristen Graham.
"I always wanted to be a journalist and I didn't know how to go about doing that. I didn't have any journalists in my family and Temple kind of gave me that road map," Graham said.
Radio and Detroit public television executive Rich Homberg was also honored. He says in the media everything has changed...and nothing has changed.
"People still need to know where things are going. What's the news? What's the government doing? What are the Eagles doing this week and next week," Homberg said.
Blitzer says the award gives him a rooting interest for Temple vs. Notre Dame.
"It definitely means I will hope that Temple wins by seven."
That would create a situation.
