PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Spectators and lacrosse teams from around the country are in Philadelphia for the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships and for families in the area it's their chance to get out and learn about the sport that's gaining popularity throughout the region.
The events take place all weekend at Lincoln Financial Field and the games are only a fraction of what is going on.
Lee Stevens, the tournament manager, says there is a fanfest going on where families participate in different lacrosse inspired events.
"There will be a tent city with a lot of various lacrosse organizations, youth groups have rented tents and will have hospitality out in the parking lot," Stevens explains.
He says the activities and fanfare going on stack up with top sporting events around the country.
"This is the second largest NCAA championship after Basketball Men's Final Four," he says.
The NCAA Division 1 Championship game takes place on Memorial Day (Monday) at Lincoln Financial Field.
