UPDATE: Some SEPTA Bus Service Resumes Despite Snow

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This latest storm, in the long line of them this winter, is impacting how people are getting around.
SEPTA
SEPTA canceled all city and suburban bus service at the height of the storm.
After sending out SEPTA supervisors to inspect routes, Septa deputy general manager Jeff Knueppel says a decision was made to resume bus service on 12 routes that feed the Broad Street Subway line and the Market-Frankford El — but only between 3pm and 10pm.
Those bus routes include the 6, 14, 17, 21, 23, 52, 56, 59, 66, 79, 99, and 104.
Trolley service on Routes 101 and 102 is running to Media and Sharon Hill, respectively, every 30 minutes.
Septa says all buses and Regional Rails would be shut down at 10pm tonight, when another couple of inches of snow were expected to fall.
The Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines will be operating all night, and trolleys will run until their normal last runs.
(The Norristown High-Speed Line, which had been suspended for most of the morning, resumed full service by 1:45pm today.)
PATCO
In the Garden State, PATCO is on a snow schedule (See Related Story) and New Jersey Transit will be cross-honoring through Friday.
AMTRAK
Amtrak is operating a modified schedule (See Related Story).
HIGHWAYS
PennDOT was temporarily reducing the speed limit to 45 mph on the following highways:
- Interstates 78, 80, 81, 176 and 380;
- U.S. Routes 22, 209, 222 and 422; and
- State Routes 33 and 309.
PARKING
Parking-wise, snow emergencies are in effect all over the area. If you're in Philadelphia and need a place to leave your car, the PPA is offering a flat $5 rate for its Center City garages (See Related Story). They are at 16th and JFK, 5th and Market, 10th and Ludlow, 10th and Filbert, 2nd and Sansom, and 8th and Filbert. That $5 dollar rate is in effect until the snow emergency is lifted.
AIRPORT
Thousands of flights around the country have been cancelled. Locally, Philadelphia International Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says half of all of their flights have been affected. If you need information, go to PHL.org or call 1-800-PHL-GATE.
On the ground, traveling around Philadelphia, SEPTA's Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines have been operating.
