Winning Band in 'NJ Soundoff' Competition Riding Fresh Wave of Popularity

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Recovery from Superstorm Sandy has new theme song, but the old one is still going strong too.
The official anthem of the airways is the one you've heard repeatedly on KYW Newsradio and elsewhere: "Stronger Than the Storm."
But at the same time that New Jersey was using that tune to attract visitors to the shore this summer, it was holding a contest for a new, original song.
Spokeswoman Shannon Eis says the contest attracted more than 200 entries, "allowing people to create a video of their music, of their sort of artistic statement of their experience at New Jersey this summer." And, she adds, it "was such a rewarding experience to see the scope and the scale of what people created."
A song called "Jersey Strong," by After the Reign, was the winner. The group staged the first of several performances over the weekend at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park.
After the Reign will be performing this coming Saturday, 12 noon to 6pm, at Raceway Park in Old Bridge Township, NJ.
Eis says it hasn't yet been determined if "Jersey Strong" will grace any radio or television commercials.
