Wind Limits Balloons, But Not Attendance At Thanksgiving Day Parade

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Thousands of people started off their holiday by heading out to the country's oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday.
The Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parade had marching bands, clowns and floats, but no giant balloons this year.
"We were supposed to be balloon holders of Strawberry Shortcake, but when she got inflated, she popped, and because of the wind, there's no balloons really in the parade," Mary Vacaro of Langhorne said.
Mary says a few select balloons were paraded in front of the television cameras. She tells KYW Newsradio she's been a balloon holder for years, and this is the first time for her as a spectator.
"There's still a lot of other fun stuff to see. A lot of clowns, marching bands, the mayor's in the parade. It's a lot of fun!"
