UPDATE: Former School Headmaster Arrested On Child Pornography Charges
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) –Attorney General Beau Biden's office announced today that the Delaware Child Predator Task Force has arrested former school headmaster Christopher Wheeler.
Wheeler stepped down from the Tower Hill School in Wilmington a few weeks ago.
Officers executed a search warrant on October 22nd at the home of 53-year-old Christopher Wheeler, of the 1500 block of Mount Salem Lane in Wilmington. During the search, officials seized multiple computers and digital media.
A forensic investigation of the items revealed multiple images of child porn.
The Child Predator Task Force made arrangements for Wheeler to turn himself in to detectives Friday afternoon.
He was taken into custody and charged with 25 counts of dealing child pornography.
Wheeler was arraigned and taken to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $1.5 million cash bail.
Police say it is unclear if the investigation surrounding Wheeler involves current Tower Hill students.
Wheeler had been headmaster at the elite Tower Hill School since 2004. The school's Board of Trustees says he has since stepped down in light of investigation. The school has since appointed an interim headmaster.
