Wilmington Car Crash Claims One Person's Life
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – An early morning car accident in Wilmington killed one person on Saturday.
Around 5:32 a.m., Lamar Harley, 32, was driving a 2003 Acura TL southbound on US 13 in the area of Bacon Avenue. Authorities say stretch marks on the road indicated that his front left tire may have been missing for over two miles.
As Harley's vehicle approached Bacon Avenue, it veered onto the right shoulder and struck the raised concrete curb. It then began traveling up onto the grass towards the entrance of the Cigarette and Tobacco Outlet, where it struck another concrete curb that vaulted the vehicle into the air before it struck a steel support pole and came to a stop.
Harley was trapped in the driver's seat of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
US 13 southbound at Bacon Avenue was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
