Where Local Universities Ranked On U.S. News Rankings
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The latest edition of the U.S. News & World Report college rankings included a number of local colleges and universities.
Princeton University is once again ranked as the top school in the nation and is joined in the top 10 by the University of Pennsylvania (#9).
Lehigh University and Penn State University finished tied for 47th on the list. Drexel University came in at 99th on the list, just etching out a spot in the top 100.
Villanova University came in 1st among regional universities (North). The rankings define regional universities as schools that offer a full range of undergraduate programs and some master's programs, but few doctoral programs.
St. Joseph's University finished 15th and La Salle University finished tied for 26th out of regional universities (North). Arcadia finished tied for 41st while Philadelphia University finished tied for 58th in that same category.
Temple University finished 115th in the nation and 55th among public universities. The ranking for Temple is being seen as a major success by the university. According to the university, it is the highest spot that Temple has ever achieved in the rankings, up six spots from a year ago.
The school also points out that it has climbed a total of 17 spots in the last five rankings.
