Where Are The Jobs?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - More educated people have more job opportunities; but those are not equal across fields.
A new report released by Georgetown University's Center on Education and the Workforce sheds light on the current economic value of college degrees.
Those who studied health or education have unemployment rates of only 5.4%, compared with the humanities and arts with 11.1%. Since the recession hit the construction industry, architects have the highest unemployment rates - 13.9%.
In discussing the findings, The Chronicle of Higher Education points out that if your major sounds like a job, engineering For instance, you may be "in better shape," although mechanical and civil engineers do not face good prospects. Going to grad school helps; of those degree holders, only 3% are unemployed.
Regardless of the major, college makes sense. While the overall unemployment rate for those with bachelor's degrees is 8.9; high school grads face 22.9% unemployment. Education helps!
