What's Cooking on 1060: Summer Truffles, A Bartenders' Bar, and a Water Ice Anniversary

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Pop's Italian Water Ice, in South Philadelphia, is celebrating 80 years in business.
So, whose pop is Pop?
"He was actually my grandfather," says Michael Italiano (top photo), who now runs the shop at 1337 Oregon Avenue as a co-owner.
His earliest memory of the business?
"I was born right around the corner here, on Clarion Street, so I could still remember my dad taking me here when I was three or four years old. It was always fabulous for me. My pop would let me come inside and let me scoop a little bit. And that's kind of how it started!"

A few blocks over, at 1401 East Moyamensing Avenue, is a new restaurant called The Industry. Chef Patrick Szoke (below) says the name is an homage to the restaurant industry.
-----
"This is more of a place directed towards industry folk, somewhere where they can come in, hang out, get a bit to eat, get a drink, and feel comfortable," Szoke tells KYW Newsradio.

And, it's summer truffle season! Chef Jeffrey Power of Deterra Restaurant and Wine Bar in Ambler, Pa. says folks get pumped about his tasting menu highlighting the underground fungus because summer truffles cost so much less than winter truffles.
-----
"It's an inexpensive way to use these truffles, create special dishes that people get really excited about," Power (right) says.
