PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local medical practice is hosting a food-centric, boardwalk-themed fundraiser for the victims of Hurricane Sandy this Saturday, March 9th.
The Hughes Center is a medical practice where Jaime Castle (top photo) is event coordinator for the "Hughes Center Open House Is A Shore Thing." Castle says each year the practice hosts a fundraiser, and this year they're celebrating the Jersey shore to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.
"It is a boardwalk-themed event," she tells KYW Newsradio, "so we're talking cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cake, little custards, some boardwalk fries, some delicious things."
The event takes place on from 10am to 2pm Saturday at the DeSimone Building, 6 Esterbrook Drive, in Cherry Hill. You can get more information at hughescenter.net.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross is getting ready to throw another fabulous red-tie party benefitting the Red Cross House, this Saturday evening.
Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes, CEO of the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the American Red Cross, says the 13th annual Red Ball takes place at the Please Touch Museum.
----
"It is a fantastic party for foodies," Hughes says. "We have 40 restaurants that participate in the main event, and there's everything from to-die-for cupcakes to delicious main courses!"

And beware the Ides of March! Or, in this case, embrace the holiday with wine.
Jill Weber, owner of Jet Wine Bar at 1525 South Street, says she'll be hosting an "Ides of March" wine tasting, featuring Roman Empire wines, on March 12th.
-----
"Wines that were in the Roman Empire at the time of Caesar's death -- an incredible wine region. France, Spain, Italy, North Africa, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece," she explains.
