PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Two major dining-oriented fundraisers take place later this month in Philadelphia.  Local chef chair David Katz says his "Taste of the Nation" event benefits Share Our Strength, an organization that fights childhood hunger.

Katz says "Taste" is scheduled for April 28th at the Hotel Monaco, Fifth and Chestnut Streets, in Old City.

"There's always one nice, big room, and all the restaurants have a table," he tells What's Cooking.   "There's a bunch of rows of tables, and then there's always a big area on the middle for the auction.  There's also some drink vendors there."

Also, the 23rd annual "Dining Out For Life" takes place on Thursday, April 25th.   Action AIDS is the local beneficiary of this culinary fundraising day.

"In the Delaware Valley over 200 restaurants participate," says Kevin Burns of Action AIDS (below), "and all you have to do is go out and eat dinner in a wonderful restaurant and the restaurant contributes 33 percent of what they bring in that evening to support AIDS services in the Philadelphia region."

Meanwhile, Main Line Restaurant Week takes place Monday, April 22nd, through Sunday, April 28th.     Sarah Lockard, organizer of the event (below), says now is the time to make reservations.

"Main Line Restaurant Week is now Philadelphia's largest suburban dining event, and it is open to restaurants of any type, cuisine, size, across the western suburbs -- of course in the Main Line towns, but all around the surrounding areas as well," she says.

Lockard adds that there will be giveaways in addition to the special deals.
