PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Karen Gagnier, locally-based cofounder of Celebrate Wine,  is raising awareness and money for breast cancer awareness through a wine label she developed.  It's a nonprofit venture that benefits Living Beyond Breast Cancer in Haverford, Pa.

"My mother passed from lung cancer," Gagnier (top photo) tells What's Cooking.  "She was diagnosed with cancer, (and) six months later I had breast cancer, and we went through chemotherapy together."

Together with her sister, Gagnier created one red and one white wine from Napa.

"Nothing says an honoring of somebody like a toast!" she says.

Meanwhile, Yards Brewing Co. is celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its seasonal pink beer, called Pynk.

Tom Kehoe -- president, founder, and brewmaster of Yards Brewing Company, says sales of "Pynk" will help the Tyanna Foundation.

Why is the beer name spelled with a Y?

"Because of Yards," Kehoe explains.  "We thought this would be great to get some fruit, some raspberries, some sour cherries, and making it almost like a harvest ale.  And it's pink!"

And get ready for the eighth annual Midtown Village Fall Festival!  It takes place on a Sunday this year -- October 6th -- in the neighborhood around 13th and Sansom Streets.

James McManaman, founding president of the Midtown Village Merchants' Association, says the festival is expanding this year with new restaurants and stores that will be included.

"Because there are so many new restaurants, so many new stores on Chestnut Street, we want to put them in the spotlight and get them a chance to be seen," he says.
