What's Cooking on 1060: Bonchon, Bing Bing, and… Rita!
By Hadas Kuznits
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The owners of Cheu Noodle Bar are preparing to open their second restaurant early next week (planned for February 16th), at 1648 E. Passyunk Avenue. It'll be called "Bing Bing Dim Sum."
Chef/owner Ben Puchowitz (top photo) admits he's always had a fascination with Asian cuisine.
"Bing Bing is going to be more of a Chinese flair, centered around dumplings and traditional dim sum appetizers that I'm gonna do some riffs on," he says.

Meanwhile, the Korean fried chicken sports bar chain Bonchon is getting ready to open in Philadelphia's Chinatown, at 1020 Cherry Street.
Franchise co-owner David Taing says he's been eager to bring this unique taste to Philadelphia.
----
"We had a taste of this chicken and thought it was the best," he tells What's Cooking.

And following some unfortunate vandalism that kept the 15th and Spruce Street location closed all last year, Rita's franchise owner Ron Kauffman has revitalized the water ice store with an early opening and a sweet surprise:
"We're opening on Friday, February 20th, with a complimentary water ice day."
-----
And, he points out, that's in addition to Rita's traditional giveaway day, the first day of spring every year.
