What's Cooking on 1060: Halloween Beer, Pizza and Beer, and Craft Beer
By Hadas Kuznits
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --The new 2nd Story Brewing Co. is opening Tuesday, October 21st, in the former Triumph Brewery space in Old City, at 117 Chestnut Street.
"The space is the same, the equipment's the same -- but it's our beer, it's our food," says John Wible (top photo). "Well, it's my beer, as I'm the brewer, right? So my brewing style is a lot of hop-forward beers, German lagers. And the food is comfortable but elevated, so we're going to try and tie in to some local produce."

And on Wednesday, October 22nd, Boxers PHL opens at 1330 Walnut Street. Owner Rob Hynds is bringing the gay sports bar here from New York.

"We're kind of known for our pizza," he tells What's Cooking. "We have fun names for the pizza. In New York, it was the 'A-Rod.' It was the A-Rod for his 'meat,' if you will. And the 'Twink' is kind of a code word for a skinny little boy."
So it's a skinny little pizza?
"Uh... meatless!" he laughs.

Also on Wednesday, October 22nd, the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District holds its fifth annual Witch Craft Beer Crawl, on (where else?) East Passyunk Avenue.
Renee Gilinger, executive director of the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District, says it's a Halloween-themed drinking (and eating) event.
"And for $6.66 -- yes, there's a theme there -- you get a witch hat, a stamp card with all of your $3 craft beers, and you get to drink $3 Victory craft beers at all of those bars and restaurants for four hours."
It runs from 5:30 to 9:30pm.
