What To Know Before Getting A Drone This Holiday Season
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If a drone is on your holiday gift list, you might want to check your insurance policy before you fly.
Before taking to the yard with drone in hand, you better make sure you have insurance coverage, just in case your flying skills are a bit rusty says Ron Ruman, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.
"First of all if it's lost, stolen or damaged, perhaps even more importantly is to make sure if the consumer has liability coverage in their homeowners or renter's insurance policy if the flying of a drone would be covered should that drone crash into another person's property, a vehicle or another person themselves," Ruman said.
You also want to make sure that you're covered if your drone has a camera or recording device that captures sensitive information that your neighbors may not want to share.
