What A Gorgeous Stretch Of Weather
By Kate Bilo
What a gorgeous stretch of weather we find ourselves in! Starting last Friday, things took a turn for the beautiful, even though we did have a few showers both Friday and Saturday evenings. And things continue to be great! This is a good thing also, because we had a few bouts of heavy rain in recent weeks and can use a spell of dry weather.
The weather pattern across the country is in a bit of a traffic jam - nothing is really moving much at all. This means that whatever weather pattern you're currently stuck in, that's where you'll be staying for quite some time. For example, in Billings, Montana, it's been raining steadily since 6 o'clock Sunday night and the rain has no intentions of stopping anytime soon. But for us, lodged as we are under a dome of high pressure, this blocking pattern is a good thing - we've got days on end of nice weather.
The normal high for today is 70, and I think we'll get a little warmer than that with a good deal of sunshine and an airmass that's warming from within - probably around 74. A northerly breeze will inhibit the warming a bit, but it will keep humidity low and the breeze will feel nice if you're sitting outside in the sun. Pollen levels, though, continue to be oppressive - I don't know about your house, but at my house all the patio furntiure is covered with a dust of neon-green pollen, and my car is almost looking psychedelic at the moment! Keep taking those meds if you suffer from seasonal allergies.
The weather looks to stay dry, sunny and nice into the weekend now. Each day we'll top out in the mid 70's, with a better chance of approaching 80 by Friday, when we get more of a southerly wind. As of yesterday, it looked as though showers and thunderstorms could try to get in by Friday - but the newest analysis, in my opinion, reveals a much-delayed arrival of any precipitation. I've left a chance of precip in for later on Saturday, but there's a good chance much of Saturday could be dry, with a chance for showers Sunday. I'm hoping tomorrow might bring an even bigger delay in the chance for wet weather, welcome news for anyone heading to the race in Dover this weekend!
I will continue to post updates on my Facebook page and on Twitter (follow @katebilo) and will keep you posted. Enjoy the beautiful spring weather!
