West Chester Swimmers Hoping To Make A Big Splash This Summer

WEST CHESTER, Pa (CBS) -- Three swimmers, who are all members of the same community pool in West Chester, have earned a spot at the Olympic Trials, and will compete to represent the U-S Team at the London games later this summer.
The excitement unfolds in Omaha, Nebraska, which is hosting the week-long trials beginning Monday.
Laura McGlaughlin, Andrew Kossick, and Christina Leander are blessed with tremendous support, both from their loved ones rooting for them in Nebraska and from the Roslyn Swim Club.
"All the kids here are so wonderful, and it's like being part of a family," McGlaughlin, a Villanova breaststroker, says, "so I definitely know I have their support."
A lot of young eyes look up to this trio. Kossick, a 20-time All American, says achievements come through rigorous training.
"I hope I can be an inspiration to show the kids if they work hard, they can make it someday."
The Georgia Tech sprint freestyler is thrilled to be racing in the 50 and 100. He is also looking forward to swimming alongside Michael Phelps.
At 16, Leander is the youngest of the three. She talked about how she was keeping the butterflies at bay.
"I think visualization is very good, so you don't get to0 nervous."
The West Chester East student and her college counterparts have all shown they can handle pressure.
