Were The Eagles Looking Past The Browns?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Most of Philadelphia has been trying to nail down the biggest cause of the Eagles' struggles against the Browns on Sunday. Michael Vick has gotten the lion's share of the blame, with Andy Reid also receiving plenty of responsibility as well.
Perhaps they weren't ready for the fight the Browns put up.
"There are going to be days like that every year in the NFL, where you're going to have to win ugly a few times," former NFL quarterback and current CBS analyst Steve Beuerlein told 94WIP's Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow on Monday. "And it just so happens that week 1 it showed up for Michael Vick, a game that I think everybody assumed would be a cake walk for the Eagles going into the season, and maybe a lot of people, including the Eagles themselves, were looking past it"
Most NFL writers had the Browns as one of the three or four worst teams in the NFL coming into Sunday. They started a rookie at quarterback, as well as a rookie at running back. Neither played well, and the Eagles still struggled to pull out a victory.
"In order for the Eagles to get to where they should be, they are a very, very talented football team, if Michael Vick plays that way they are not going to get it done when they should be getting it done,' Beuerlein said. Vick threw four interceptions, and had a QB rating of 51.0.Listicles
While many have said Vick has reverted back to his days in Atlanta on the field, Beuerlein doesn't see it.
"The bottom line is though, he is, from a quarterback perspective, he is a different quarterback than from what he is from Atlanta. He is a completely different quarterback. That does not mean that he still will not cost his team by not having limitations and not having the ability to stick in there and go through his reads," he said.
