Weiner Won't Go; New Photos Surface On Internet
WASHINGTON (AP) – The story doesn't end. Representative Anthony Weiner has acknowledged exchanging messages and photos ranging from sexually suggestive to explicit with several women online, and the latest to surface appeared on the entertainment website TMZ.
The photos posted Sunday were purportedly taken in the House members' gym and show a shirt-less Weiner with a towel around his waist and his hand on his crotch. TMZ said the photos were sent online to at least one woman -- not the young woman for Delaware.
Some of New York Rep. Anthony Weiner's constituents say he should resign now over his sexting scandal, and they are planning a rally outside his district office.
Weiner said Saturday that instead of resigning he was seeking professional treatment and asking for a leave of absence from Congress.
The announcement came shortly after several Democratic Party leaders demanded he quit.
Weiner had acknowledged Friday that he had exchanged online messages with a 17-year-old girl in Delaware. He says nothing improper had passed between the two of them.
Weiner's Ninth Congressional District spans parts of Brooklyn and Queens. A civic group and other residents of the district plan to rally Sunday afternoon to demand Weiner's resignation.
