Weekend Temps Will Remind Us It's Still (Technically) Summer
By Geoff Bansen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Well, it's Friday once again! I'm sure you are all excited for the weekend to begin, so let's make this brief.
High pressure building into the northeast will bring us pleasant weather for today, and for most of the weekend.
WATCH: Kate's Friday Forecast
Friday will be sunny, but it will feel like fall! The weak cold front that passed through has helped to drop temperatures several degrees.
The weekend won't feature as much sunshine as today. A weak warm front lifting north on Saturday will usher in a few more clouds, but temperatures will finally return to normal as a result. Highs will continue to rise on Sunday, and most of the area should see a decent amount of sunshine. The Delaware Valley will be in between two systems, a cold front to the west and a coastal storm to the east. Depending on the timing of these two systems, the cold front could draw in some of the moisture from this coastal low, so a brief shower on Sunday is not out of the question.
The front comes through late on Sunday and skies should be clearing by Monday morning. Strong high pressure builds in for next week, with a quiet pattern expected.
Today's Highs:

Shore - 70
Poconos - 61
On this day in weather history...
1977 - Heavy rain with thunderstorms caused widespread roadway flooding, some basement flooding and flooding in subways. In Delaware Co, 3 3/4" of rain was measured. Around 3" fell in portions of Philadelphia, resulting in a boy drowning when an auto submerged in a flooded underpass. High winds caused damage as well.
