Weekend Box Office: Little Fockers Debuts At #1
(CBS) - Sequels, remakes, and adaptations dominated the holiday weekend at multiplexes.
Little Fockers, the debuting comedy sequel with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, won the weekend box office battle with a first-place finish and an estimated total of $34 million.
The new Coen Brothers western remake True Grit, starring Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon, placed second with $26 million.
The holdover high-tech sequel Tron: Legacy, was third with $20 million in its second weekend of release.
And the latest version of Gulliver's Travels, a debuting live-action adventure comedy featuring Jack Black, took in a modest $7 million which was good for seventh place.
Overall ticket revenue was moderate, assuring that 2010 totals would fall short of last year's record-breaking box office results.
