Wednesday's Child: Jordan

By Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) —- 15-year-old Jordan loves competition.

"Sports, like basketball, football," he says, "stuff like that."

But it's not all hoop dreams. Jordan is serious about school. He enjoys math and says he might want to teach some day.

"Well, that was like my backup," Jordan says. "Because I want to be a basketball player, but if that doesn't work, I'll be a teacher."

He also likes to volunteer and says it feels good to give back.

"I have a lot to offer," he says.

His social worker, Cleo Crossley, agrees.

"He's a leader in his own space," Crossley says. "A leader to the point where he has other people looking up to him and other people trying to follow what Jordan does. And I try to tell people, 'don't allow his age -- because he's a teenager to scare you. He has a lot to offer.' He does."

For more information about adopting Jordan or any other child, go to the National Adoption Center's  web site, www.adopt.org, or call 215-735-9988.
