Wednesday's Child: Gianna

By Larry Kane
Produced by Timothy McLaughlin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Gianna may be 13, but she is very serious about her dreams for her career.

"I want to go to EMT school and be an EMT," she says. "And, honestly, I kind of want to work in the SVU. If that's even real. If it's not real, I'm going to make it up."

She says she really wants to help people.

"There are a whole bunch of kids out there getting abused," Gianna says. "And half of the time they don't even report it. So, nothing's being done about it, so that criminal is out there and he's still hurting kids. So, I want to put them in jail."

Her social worker, Katherine Twomey, says Gianna would be a great fit for any family looking for a smart young lady with a nurturing side.

"I think someone who's really committed to be being part of her team," Twomey says. "And anybody who's going to sort of hang in there and stick with her. She's really great and really fun to be around. She's really caring."

For more information about adopting Gianna or any other child, go to the National Adoption Center's  web site, www.adopt.org, or call 215-735-9988.
