PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Eight-year-old Daevon loves playing sports. When he grows up, he wants to play in the NBA.
And in his spare time?
"Be a firefighter. So I could put out a fire. And I like to hear the sirens."
This energetic youngster doesn't shy away from adventure.
His social worker, Karen Reynolds, says Daevon needs an active family.
"He needs someone who can keep up with him," she says with a chuckle. "He would be a great helper. He loves to try to carry very heavy bags, even when he really can't (laughs)."
Reynolds says Daevon would like a family with a strong male presence and someone who can support him in the sports he enjoys.
Gloria Hochman, of the National Adoption Center, based in Philadelphia, notes that Daevon, like all children, needs a loving home.
"Can you imagine being eight years old and not having a permanent family? What he knows is that he needs a family that would love him forever and care about him."
