Web Retailers Promise Bargains On Cyber Monday

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - On the heels of one of the biggest shopping days of the year, bargain shoppers will be out in force again -- but this time, they get to stay in their PJ's or use office hours to look for a deal.

This Cyber Monday is the time for online retailers to bid for your holiday business.

Maybe it's a tablet you still need to cross off that list.  CNET.com senior editor Bridget Carey says their top-reviewed smaller models are the iPad mini and Google's Nexus 7.

While discounts can be hard to come by on such items, look for sites that bundle a gift card with your purchase.  That can help you take care of the stocking stuffers.

"There are some phone cases that are bottle openers or wallets, and they do all sorts of things besides just protect your device," Carey says.  "I also like to recommend gloves that can work with a smartphone."

If you're good with a needle, you can stitch your way to a cheaper pair, with silver-coated conductive thread on a glove fingertip.

"One gift that a lot of people will probably like is the Logitech Harmony remote," Carey says.  "It's model 650 -- one of those universal all-in-ones that just works so well.  It's a couple years old, but everyone loves it.  That's going to be cheap."

Expect good deals on TVs.  To add to your home theater, Carey suggests the Roku streaming box.

"It pulls in streaming services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon, and has a lot of free content, too," Carey says.  "You just hook it up to your TV and have extra shows to watch or pull in your streaming services.  It's going as low as $40."
